Suspension Repair

Our vehicle’s suspension system (i.e., shocks or struts) is something we often take for granted. However, after supporting several tons of metal year after year, eventually the shocks will wear out and suspension repair will be necessary. Some people mistakenly believe the suspension is mainly about having a smooth ride, and therefore these repairs aren’t as important as other maintenance issues like oil changes or brakes. However, having a bad suspension can greatly affect your ability to control the vehicle, especially when stopping or turning, so it’s in your best interest not to ignore this part of Indicators of a problem like this are:

  • Taking longer to stop ( as much as 3m at 80kmph)
  • Uneven tyre threads
  • Damaged oil shocks
  • Making noises when turning
  • Having trouble cornering

Worn or leaking shock absorbers cause a decrease in braking distance which can cause your vehicle to fail its WOF inspection, however WOF inspections don’t permit testing shocks and suspension directly.

Steering

When a steering rack goes bad, it is important that you take immediate attention for your safety. There are obvious signs that your steering rack needs to be changed, look out for these following symptoms:

  • Very tight steering wheel
  • Leaking power steering fluid
  • Grinding noise when steering
  • Burning smell

Mechanical Services

We have an extensive range of services that can be tailored to suit your individual auto servicing requirements. When you come in, don’t hesitate to ask us how we can offer you the best options based on your vehicle’s unique needs. Getting a car service in Auckland is smooth and straightforward when you come into Atmiya Auto Center.

We are here to help you get moving again.

We pride ourselves on offering the following auto services in Auckland that are crucial to your vehicle’s performance and safety when you are traveling. Our mechanics at Auto Connection are well versed on the importance of these basic vehicle services and we have listed these below. Talk to us today about how we can provide you with one or more of the following so that we can get you back on the road quicker.

Tyre Change

We understand the schedule disrupting pain that a puncture can be which is why we come to you. We can get you back on the road without the hassle of having to replace the damaged tyre with a spare or tempting you to risk the long term health of your tyre by unsafely driving the vehicle to the nearest repair shop.

Remember the location of the puncture is critically important in determining whether a repair can be made in accordance with New Zealand Standard 5423. This standard defines the safe area as punctures occurring from belt edge to belt edge on tread area and excludes the sidewall.

This is particularly important because any attempt to drive the deflated tyre without the air pressure to keep its shape, will cause the sidewall to pinch between the wheel rim and the road while driving, severely damaging it. This will compromise the integrity of the sidewall and result in the need for a replacement even if the original puncture occurred within the safe repair area.

Mechanical Insurance

While standard vehicle insurance might cover theft and damage from accidents, Mechanical Repair Insurance can cover mechanical faults and repairs, like steering problems, engine repairs, electric battery replacements or auto-electrical issues. The cover applies to new and used vehicles and provides peace of mind that you’re covered for unexpected mechanical repairs.

Mechanical Repair Cover advantages

  • Peace of mind motoring that you’re covered for most repairs, depending on your policy.
  • Extra services such as roadside assistance, towing and rental cars may be included.
  • Premiums can be calculated based on the term of the coverage, the condition and quality of your car, and the kilometres you’ve travelled.
  • Older cars that may be more susceptible to repairs are covered, as well as newer cars just out of warranty.
  • When buying a used vehicle, you can choose what you want, without concern for a warranty.
  • Protects your savings in the event of an unforeseen vehicle failure.
  • Repair bill disputes are handled directly by the insurance company.
  • Can be purchased with your credit card online for a monthly premium or paid direct from your bank account.

Comprehensive Car Insurance

Covers you for accidents, theft, fire, vandalism and storm damage. Plus we cover damage to someone else’s car or property.

  • Your premium is how much you pay for your cover. This is calculated based on things like age, gender, driving experience and the type of car you’re driving.
Because of that, everyone’s premiums are a bit different.
  • Your excessis a one-off amount that you pay each time you make a claim. Let’s say your excess is $500 but a repair job for a dinged-door only costs $350 – that cost is up to you. Any repair work that will cost above $500 is covered by us.

WOF

Are you after a Warrant of Fitness for your vehicle? You’ve come to the right place! A WOF check-in Auckland couldn’t be easier. Atmiya Auto Center can perform regular WOF checks on your vehicle to ensure that it meets the required safety standards for vehicles as per New Zealand law. Remember, it is illegal to drive a vehicle if it does not meet the necessary WOF requirements. Also, a valid WOF label needs to be displayed at all times to ensure that your vehicle meets WOF NZ standards.

We also suggest that you do your vehicle pre-check prior. Check all your lights i.e., headlights, brake lights, indicators, make sure all bulbs are working both high and low beam. Also, check your window wipers to make sure they are delivering water to your windshield. Your wipers should not be leaving any patches across your windshield.

Check your tyres for pressure and tread. Pump your tyres prior and use a tread checker to check your tyre’s depth. Check your oil by checking the dipstick. If it’s low, notify us and we will advise you on the next step. Checking your seats’ belts for tears and removing items from your boot is highly recommended before your WOF check.

Why Choose Atmiya Auto Center for Your Next WOF Check-in Auckland?

First of all, it’s our friendly service that our customers love. We make the whole process convenient for you so you don’t have to wait around. You can leave your vehicle with us or we’ll do it while you wait. We are highly trained automotive experts and will provide complete transparency by advising you of any concerns we have after your vehicle’s inspection. We can also do repairs and replace parts as a result of your WOF check.

How Often Should You Get a WOF Done?

A WOF inspection differs from a pre-purchase inspection. Some areas of the car are not included in a WOF inspection. These are: your engine, clutch and condition of the gearbox, levels of lubrication in your vehicle, condition of vehicle’s exterior paint, rust evident in certain areas deemed to be non-structural, the thickness of your vehicle’s brake pads (unless they are significantly below WOF NZ standards.)

Here is What We Cover When You Bring Your Vehicle to Us for Your Next WOF Inspection Check:

Lights, brake operation, windscreen washers and wipers, seat belts (no fading or damage and buckles fully operational), speedometer check, exhaust (no leaks, smokiness or excessive noise), fuel system, steering and suspension, airbags (if applicable to your vehicle), doors, glazing and windscreen safety check, rust & structural condition check, tyre check.

If your vehicle fails a WOF check, your vehicle cannot be deemed roadworthy and you will be unable to drive it on the road unless you are taking to get the necessary repairs done. Our fully trained and experienced team will advise you if there are any issues when you come to us for your next WOF in Auckland. Simply come in or book online through our website.

Vehicle Scanning and Diagnostic

It doesn’t matter what make of vehicle you have, whether it’s a late model or a newer one, we can run a diagnostic scan to assess its faults and performance. All our services are conducted in-house by our specialist team, which can cost much less than getting a diagnostic scan done at the dealership.

Running a diagnostic scan doesn’t count for much unless you have the experience to make any necessary repairs or knowledge to look into an issue if it persists. For this reason, our diagnostic scanning services are complemented by our expertise and hands-on mechanical experience.

When it comes to matters of your car, great communication is key. If anything comes up during a diagnostic scan that requires us to work on it, you’ll be the first to know and we won’t do anything without your thumbs-up. Our team keeps lines of communication open throughout our process.

How to know if you require a car Diagnosis Scan

If you have experienced any warning signs that something may be off with your car, it’s best to get your car inspected by an automotive expert to guarantee safety and efficiency on the roads. Here are some common issues that you may have noticed:

  • Your car’s warning lights are on
  • Your engine takes a long time to get going
  • There are strange sounds such as clicking, squealing, clicking or knocking
  • Your tyres have become worn faster than usual
